Ruth Engebritson
Longtime Teacher
Ruth Engebritson, age 85 of rural Kasota, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at her home.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel. Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
Ruth was born January 8, 1926 to Lance and Alice (Blanchard) Engebritson in Hillsborough County, Florida. She graduated from Sauk Rapids High School, Sauk Rapids, MN in 1944 and graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in 1948. Ruth began her 35 year teaching career in Minneota, MN. She also taught in Tyler, MN, Hutchinson, MN and finished the next 30 years at Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, MN (1953 to 1983.) Ruth was a committed teacher and coach who continued to mentor young women throughout their formative years. She retired to the "Kasota Funny Farm," as friends called it, 27 years ago. Ruth will be remembered for her many memorable trips "up the road" where she thankfully, never lost the farm. She was an avid gardener, reader and her love of cats was often a joke to her friends.
Ruth's teaching career gave her many lifelong associates and friends to help her. She is survived by these good friends: Ellen Blank, Pat Smith, Linda and Larry Kettner, Anna and John Barklow, Bruce and Lynn Davey and many other supporters.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and special friends: Pinkie Brown and Pat Wilharber.
