Roger Torgerson

Roger Torgerson, age 65 of rural St. Peter died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Roger was born on May 17, 1945 in St. Peter to Stanley and Evelyn (Benson) Torgerson. He is a 1963 graduate of St. Peter High School. On July 1, 1966 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Swenson in Kandiyohi, MN. He went on to the University of Minnesota in St. Paul and received his Agriculture Education degree. He was a lifelong farmer. He instructed agriculture at South Central College and sold seed and insurance while farming. His life was farming, but he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and most recently, beekeeping.

Roger is survived by his wife: Betty; children: David (Patti) Torgerson, Nancy (Kyle) Burnett and Sarah (Mitch) Shepard; grandchildren: Ben and John Torgerson and Sam Burnett; sister: Linda Leafblad; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
