Vera Eleanor Anderson

Vera Eleanor Anderson, age 83 of St. Peter passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Matthew Rauh, officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the start of the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Vera was born on November 26, 1928 to Elmo and Cora (Decko) Olsen of Norseland. She graduated from St. Peter High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. She was employed by MN Valley Natural Gas Co. of St. Peter. On June 6, 1949 she married Donald "Gunner" Volk. They lived in West Concord, Slayton and Burnsville: where he died in 1957 and she returned to St. Peter with her two young daughters. She was again employed by the gas company. On June 29, 1963 she married Russell H. Anderson. She worked for Pell Real Estate and Pell Insurance until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and volunteered for the St. Peter Food Shelf as a weekly leader and as treasurer for a number of years.

Vera is survived by daughters: Kristy (Duane) Fredrickson of St. Peter and Kathy (Larry) Ballman of Cleveland. She also leaves behind three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister, Joy Leverson and both husbands.
