John "Murph" T. Murray, age 84 of St. Peter formerly of Port Washington, NY, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 in St. Peter, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington, NY. Burial will be held in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013 with Fire Department Services at 8 p.m. at The Flower Hill Hose Company #1 in Port Washington, NY. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Port Washington Fire Department in NY or Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter.
John was born December 12, 1928 to Thomas and Mary (Wetko) Murray in North Hempstead, NY. He was a 62 year member of the Port Washington Fire Department, it was his pride and joy. John was a resident of Port Washington, NY for 81 years before moving to St. Peter with his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. He enjoyed golfing and watching the NY Mets.
John is survived by his family: daughter, Sharon and son-in-law, Bob Grygo and granddaughter, Shawn Grygo.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy in 1991.
