Anthony "Tony" Beer, age 89 of Cleveland, died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Church of the Nativity in Cleveland. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday (Today) at St. Peter Funeral Home Klein Chapel with a prayer service at 4:30. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Anthony was born on November 1, 1917 to Anthony and Walburga (Hutter) Beer in St. Henry, MN. He attended District 104 School in St. Henry and Cleveland Public School. He drove truck for 17 years for Beer Trucking out of Cleveland, MN. He married Virginia Mae Davis on July 9, 1947 at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland. They were lifetime residents of Cleveland.
Tony served in WWII in the U.S. Army from October 1942 to November 1945 in the European, African, Middle Eastern Theater. He worked as the custodian for Cleveland Public School from 1952-1979. He then was employed by ADC/Onan for 5 and " years in St. Peter, MN before retiring. Tony served 43 years on the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department. He recently received his 60 year "Certificate of Continuous Membership" from the American Legion Post 207. He loved fishing, traveling, playing cards, and the 14 winters he spent in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Cleveland; son, Glenn (Linda) Beer of Cleveland; grandson, Joe (Jenny) Beer of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Melissa (Deric) Swenson of Moorhead; foster daughter Pam (Stuart) McKee of Cleveland; sisters, Grace Biehn of Mankato, Teresa Biehn of Downey, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gerald Beer in 1982; brothers, Al Beer and Martin Beer; sister, Alice (Mrs. Glenn) Eckhardt.
