Irene Schoen (age 95) of St. Peter died December 28, 2007 at Benedictine Health Care Center in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Thursday; January 3, 2008 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday one hour prior to services at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Frances Irene Schoen was born February 29, 1912 in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota to Albert L. and Emma T. (Young) Miller. She attended rural District 40 School. After leaving home she moved to Minneapolis where she lived for several years. After moving back she worked for National Tea Company both in St. Peter and in Fairmont. After National Tea closed she did custom, seamstress work in her home and did alterations for both Mark and Jerry's and Nutter Clothing in St. Peter.
Surviving is her daughter; Suzanne and husband Michael Newton of Tucson, AZ. Her grandson; Peter Newton of Phoenix, AZ. Her sister; Lucille Halbert of St. Peter and 4 brothers; Charles "Butler' Miller of Mankato, Kenneth and wife Helen Miller of Mankato, LeRoy "Jim' and wife Margaret Miller of St. Peter and Karl and wife Leona Miller also of St. Peter. Also surviving is her sister-in-law; Marie Miller of St. Peter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Evelyn Wedin and Coletta Mielke and 3 brothers; Bernard, Andrew and Robert.
