Mary Regenscheid, age 87, of St. Peter, passed away on January 14, 2008 at the Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Church in St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday at the church with a prayer service at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Inez Douglas was born on May 16, 1920 to Norman and Helen (Loree) Douglas. She attended area schools graduating from St. Peter High School in 1938. She married Larry Regenscheid on November 5, 1938. She and Larry farmed and raised their family. Later, she worked at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter and enjoyed her time there around the students.
She was active in the St. Mary's/St. Peter's Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing cards, making baby quilts, gardening, square dancing, bowling, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children: Mary (John) Murphy of Belle Plaine, Rita Flanagan of Mankato, Jerry (Kathy) Regenscheid of Cleveland, Barb (Dennis) Huebsch of Good Thunder, and Marlene (Bill) Schmidt of Burnsville; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister Adeline Blowers of Austin; sisters-in-law: Esther Regenscheid, Helen Pettis, and Margaret (Jim) Miller; brother-in-law Charley (Betty) Regenscheid; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; grandson-in-law Richard Downie; great grandsons Daniel and Robert Downie; and infant brother Arthur.
