Clarence "Bud" Wettergren, age 88 of St. Peter, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Communion in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:30 to noon on Saturday at St. Peter Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at church prior to the service.

Bud was born on August 23, 1919 to Clarence and Edna (Pell) Wettergren in Traverse Township. He attended District 3 School in Traverse Township until 1932 and graduated from St. Peter high School in 1936. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1941 until being honorably discharged as a Flight Chief Staff Sergeant in 1945.

He married Helen Heidemann on September 14, 1946 in Le Center, MN. He farmed in Traverse Township from 1954 until retiring in 1976. He was a member of the American Legion and the Red Men Club of St. Peter. He enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice at Vena's Caf" in Traverse, and was known to always have a pocket full of candy.

Bud is survived by his daughter Susan (Harry) Lumsden of St. Peter; sons: Richard (Janet) Wettergren and Mark (Jackie) Wettergren both of rural St. Peter; 6 grandchildren: Jeff, Jennifer, Brad, Ryan, Ann and Abby; 3 great-grandchildren: Chase, Henna and Wyatt; brother Bob Wettergren; 2 sisters: Beverly Cook and Anita Carter; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son Steven in 1969 while serving with the Marine Corps during Vietnam and brother Bill.
