Bernice K. "Bonnie" Monson, 89, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the St. Peter Funeral Home, Klein Chapel with Rev. Eric Natwick officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.
Bonnie was born on October 31, 1918 to Leo F. and Hazel A. (Hanson) LaCroix in Lake Prairie Township, MN. She graduated in 1936 from St. Peter High School and married C. Sanford Monson on June 11, 1938 in Spirit Lake, IA. The couple spent their entire lives living in the St. Peter area.
Bonnie worked at the Holiday House Supper Club in St. Peter for 30 years where she perfected their garlic toast recipe, and she also worked for the Martell and Schwegman families. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Sandra (Ed) Miller of Elysian, MN, Sally (Jack) Anderson of Houston, TX, John (Jean) Monson of Houston, TX, Rev. Scott Monson of Austin, MN; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Lyle (Jean) of Sun City, AZ, Harold (Marilyn) of Gooding, ID, 1 sister Marie (Bernie) Burt of Waseca, MN, and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
