Arthur John Swanson Jr., age 63 and a longtime resident of St. Peter, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at St. Peter Funeral Home Klein Chapel with Art's brother-in-law Jan Shockman officiating. Private burial will be held in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Art was born on August 11, 1944 to Arthur and Ellen (Fisch) Swanson in New Ulm, Minnesota. He attended St. Peter High School. He was united in marriage to Donna Daugherty on July 3, 1969 in St. Peter. Art was the former co-owner of Pizza Villa in St. Peter. He also did plumbing and carpet laying work. Art was a former EMT and member of the St. Peter Police Auxillary. Most recently Art was a cook at Oodles Caf" in St. Peter as well as the Morson-Ario VFW Post in Mankato. Art was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with his friends and his dog Tippy.
He is survived by a twin sister, Arlene (Robert) Bustad of Tucson, AZ; brother, John (Connie) Swanson of LeSueur; sisters, Jeannie (Jan) Shockman of Marysville, WA, and Eileen (Jim) Green of St. Cloud; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna in 2002; two sisters, Judy and Mary.
