Donald W. Boys, age 84 of St. Peter passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday May 29th at the church with a Rosary Service at 6:30. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald was born on November 30, 1923 in St. Peter to Arthur and Esther Boys. He attended John Ireland School and St. Peter High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II; and during that time met and married his wife Betty in San Francisco. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, they moved back to the Boys family farm. He farmed with his father and brother, eventually taking over the operation himself. After retiring from farming, Don worked at Cargil Seeds in St. Peter.
Don enjoyed golfing, playing cards and gardening with his wife until her death.
He is survived by his children: Donna Welter (Ted) of St. Peter, David (Linda) of St. Michael, and Dennis of St. Peter; 7 grandchildren: Thea Kramer, Ruth Neumann, Peter, Joe and Paul Welter, Don Boys and Kattie Lyman;7 great-grandchildren: Alex Neumann, Lindsay, Nicholas, Jonathan & Matthew Welter and Reilley & Jonah Lyman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and brothers John & Richard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
