Jerrol Thun, age 59 of St. Peter, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
A Prayer service for family and friends will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, June 9th at St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel. A time of visiting will follow the service from 12 " 2. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Monday in Greenhill Cemetery.
Jerrol was born on June 21, 1948 in Alexandria MN to Selma and Walter Thun. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith in Millerville, MN. He attended primary school in Northfield. The family then moved to St. Peter. He was confirmed at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1962 and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1966.
He worked at the St. Peter Herald before being drafted into the US Army in 1968. Upon his Discharge in 1970, he worked for Nelson Printing before moving to Minneapolis where he worked for Hirshfields. He later moved back to St. Peter.
Jerrol enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and golf; and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, willingness to help and his wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother Selma of St. Peter; Siblings: Jerry (Carol) of CO, Jo Ann Perkins of Minneapolis, Steve (Kathy) of St. Peter, Jane (Rick) Biehn of St. Peter and Barb (Mike) Oliver of Mankato; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Walter, brothers Jack and Jim, and brother-in-law Lloyd.
