Joan Margaret Bollum, age 68 of St. Peter passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 am on Friday, June 13th at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Thursday at the church with a 6:30 prayer service. Memorials are preferred to the Nicollet County Cancer Society.
Joan was born on December 20, 1939 in Mankato, MN to George Henry and Anastasia Eustice. She attended school in Janesville, graduating in 1957 and completed one year at the Mankato Commercial College. She was united in marriage to James Bollum on October 25, 1958 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Janesville.
Joan owned and operated Joan's Day Care until retiring in 2006. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Legion Auxiliary Post 37 and is a Past Queen of the St. Peter St. Patrick's Day festivities. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, baking, cooking traveling, playing cards and bingo and sewing.
Joan is survived by her husband, James of St. Peter; Children: Mark (Connie) of St. Peter, Jim (Sue) of Buffalo and Tom (Tomoko) of Nagoya, Japan; 6 grandchildren: Casey Ann Bollum (Fianc" Tim Wussow), Luke Bollum, Jay and Abby Bollum, and Emi and Yumi Bollum; and Many nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Pat, Bernard, Tom, and Paul; and sister Mary.
