Lois H. Poppen, age 82 of St. Peter, passed away on Monday, August 04, 2008 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran church in St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or the Benedictine Living Community. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lois was born on September 29, 1925 in Fulda, MN to John N. and Hattie B. (Hostelter) Meyer. She was baptized on April 4, 1933. She was united in marriage to Leland Poppen on September 5, 1959 at the Presbyterian Ministries in Fulda, MN.
Lois was employed as kitchen staff at the high school in Mapleton for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Mapleton and the Ladies Aid and loved sewing, gardening, her son's sporting events and especially her grandson.
She is survived by her husband Leland, son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Tammy, and grandson Chad, all of St. Peter; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and two sisters.
