Eleanor Nimps, age 99 of St. Peter, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eleanor was born on September 24, 1908 to Lewis and Emma (Tammany) Nason. She married Chester Nimps in Le Center on June 3, 1927.She was employed as a diet cook at the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center for 20 years.
She enjoyed dancing, gardening, fine sewing, traveling and crocheting many beautiful afghans. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, the St. Peter VFW Auxiliary and the Red Men Club.
Eleanor is survived by sons: Arnold (Joan) of Kasota, Ronald (Delores) of Omaha, and daughter-in-law Carol Nimps of Britt MN; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester, a son, Owen, one sister and two brothers.
Eleanor is a direct descendant of seven of the signers of the Mayflower Compact and a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
