Robert Leo Dent, age 86 of St. Peter, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at First Christian Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Ficzeri officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Christian Church. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born on October 11, 1921 in Kansas City, MO to Richard and Hattie (Sherry) Dent. He attended East High School in Kansas City and graduated in 1941. He went on to study at schools in Missouri and California. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from November of 1943 to December of 1945 during WWII. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Redenbaugh on June 26, 1943 in Walla Walla, Washington. He was employed by Wilson Supply in Mankato until his retirement in 1973. After his retirement he worked for Westburn Supply until 1992. He was a member of First Christian Church in Mankato. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of St. Peter; children, Linda (Dwight) Sprague of Branson, MO, Ronald (Vicky) Dent of Fort Worth, TX, Robin (Robert) Meirer of Blue Springs, MO, Sherry (Nick) Picinich of Rohnert Park, CA, John (Brenda) Dent of St. Peter, Tim (Brenda) Dent of Branson, MO; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
