Eline (Elaine) Palmer died September 21, 2008 at her residence in St. Peter.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday; September 27, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Kasota. Burial will be in Kasota Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel on Friday from 4 till 7 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eline was born on February 26, 1915 in Pen Yan, NY to Niels Christian Bjorholm and Marie Magdalene Sonderup Jensen Bjorholm. When she was 2 the family moved to a farm near Battle Creek, IA where she attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Battle Creek High School. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA. Eline began working at the School for Retarded at Glenwood, IA where she took nurse's training. She moved to Cherokee, IA where she worked at the State Hospital for the Mentally Ill. She met Ben Palmer who was working there and they were married in 1941 and moved to Norfolk, NE where they worked at the Mental Hospital there for several years. Finally moving to Kasota where they both worked at the St. Peter State Hospital. Eline lived in Kasota from 1945 till 1999 when she moved to St. Peter residing at the Realife Cooporative.

After the birth of their 3 daughters Eline became a homemaker. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers, baking, sewing and fancywork, especially crocheting. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota where she was a deacon, elder, Sunday School and Bible School teacher and very active in the Woman's Society. Eline was also a member of Grandview Nursing Home's Auxiliary, Kasota and St. Peter Senior Citizens Clubs.

Surviving are her daughters Ruth (Darrel) Holtz of Pine River, MN; Judie (Murray) Evans of Plymouth, MN; and Kathi (David) Mikelson of Centennial, CO. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben in 1984, sister Viola and brother Niels.
