James worked for S & K Truck Lines before becoming a partner in the business in 1958 and sole owner in 1976. After six months of retirement, he went to work for ADC in Le Sueur, Minnesota, before retiring from ADC in 2001.
His passions in life included his family and grandchildren, football, military history, puzzles and reading. He loved visiting with his customers and always felt that a day was never complete unless he could make someone smile by telling one of his many jokes.
