Gloria J. Dietz, age 66 of St. Peter and formerly of Truman, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2008 at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel with Rev. Alan Bray officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Gloria was born on December 7, 1941 to Ralph and Adeline (Knitter) Otte in Amboy. She was a 1959 graduate of Truman High School. She was married to Richard Dietz and together had two children. She served as a cook for the residents of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman for over 20 years and most recently cooked for the Truman Caf". Her last two years were spent living in St. Peter near her daughter and family.
Gloria will be remembered by many as an amazing cook. Large family feasts and her infamous Christmas spritz cookies will be missed dearly by family and friends. Her talents also included crocheting everything from afghans to doilies and creating intricate decorations. She enjoyed reading and watching movies and treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Brian and daughter-in-law Michele Dietz of Marengo, IA; daughter, Tracey and son-in-law Brian Peymann of St. Peter; grandchildren, Lori, Alison and Josh Peymann of St. Peter; brothers, Ralph Otte Jr. of Fort Collins, Co, Ronald Otte of Bovey, MN and Steven Otte of Akeley, MN.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Otte; and former husband, Richard Dietz.
