Irene M. Johnson, age 79 of St. Peter passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 28th at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Father Phil Schotzko officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am before the service at church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Irene was born on March 29, 1929 in Mankato to Peter and Marie (Cattrysse) DeWitte. On April 9, 1947 she was united in marriage to Eugene Johnson at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church parish house in Mankato. Irene was employed at ADC for 34 years before retiring.
Irene was a member of the Church of St. Peter. She enjoyed people, especially her close friends and her "extended family" of workers and residents at the Benedictine Living Community.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children: Camille (Richard) Sack of Roseville, Eugene (Gail) Johnson of Janesville, Randahl (Brenda) Johnson of St. Peter, and Daniel (Cheryl) Johnson of Shakopee; 4 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; 5 great grandchildren; siblings: Mary Lou Nilson, Leon DeWitte, and James DeWitte; and brother-in-law Willard Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene in 2004, son Gerald in 1980, parents and brother Robert.
