Leslie "Les" Walter Havemeier Sr., age 64 of St. Peter passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Monday evening at the Church of St. Peter with a prayer service at 7:30.Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Leslie was born on November 29, 1944 in St. Peter to Walter and Fern (Hanson) Havemeier. He grew up in the Le Sueur and Cleveland area. In 1959 he moved to Kilkenny where he lived and worked for 23 years. He farmed, as well as working for Green Giant and UAP of Kasota. On April 24, 1965 he was united in marriage to Elaine Iverson at IC Catholic Church in Faribault. They moved back to the St. Peter/Norseland area in 1982 where he continued to farm. Les enjoyed thrashing and farm shows.
Grateful for having shared his life are: his wife Elaine of St. Peter; children: Beverly (Kevin) Enter of Nicollet, Tina Nutting (Cain) Quilhot of Lafayette, Leslie Walter (Jonette) Havemeier Jr. and Richard Leslie Havemeier, both of Norseland; grandchildren: Ashley and Brittany Enter, Amber and Megan Nutting, Hunter Black, Leslie Walter III "Wally" and John August Havemeier; sister: Evonne Hegard of Faribault; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Freda) Iverson of St. Peter, David (LaVonne) Iverson of Faribault; sisters-in-law: Linda (Clem) Wagner of Warsaw and Julie (Allen) LaCanne of Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Leslie Earl in 2003.
