Russell Robert Heilman, age 84, of St. Peter, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Grandview Good Samaritan in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. David Naumann officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Russell was born on August 19, 1924 to William and Bertha (Schwichtenberg) Heilman in St. Peter. He grew up in the St. Peter area and graduated from St. Peter High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Russell then went to school for art and was a commercial artist in the twin cities. He went on to work for Warner Hardware in Minneapolis, and worked there until his retirement. Upon retirement, Russell moved back to St. Peter. Russell was a caring person who often went out of his way to help others in need. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and truly enjoyed watching sports on TV.
He is survived by a brother, Harold of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Jr. and John; sisters, Julia, Bert, and Agnes; and niece, Brenda Huberty.
