Evelyn D. Ricci (age 90) of St. Peter, formerly of Hemet, CA, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service is 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment in the family cemetery at a later date. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Evelyn was born March 6, 1918 in rural Butterfield, MN to Abraham A. and Brita (Melheim) Askevold, both born in Norway. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Odin, MN. Attended country school in that area and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1937. She attended Mankato Commercial College in 1941. Married Angelo Ricci in Detroit, MI on April 22, 1946 and they lived in several locations in the East before moving to California.
She spent her working years as a secretary and retired after spending 20 years with the Los Angeles Water and Power Department as office administrator. Evelyn spent most of her retirement years living at Sierra Dawn Estates in Hemet, CA; moving to MN in October of 2008 and at the time of her death was living in the Wilds of Sand Prairie in St. Peter, where a special niece is a well known resident.
Surviving is one sister-in-law, Erna (Erling) Askevold of Butterfield and 16 nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by parents; husband (Angelo) in 1976; five brothers: Adolph, Philip, Vincent, Erling and Lawrence; four sisters: Bertina Mathistad, and in infancy Wagna, Muriel Solum and Elise Hogan. Also a special friend Paul Anderson who passed away in 1998.
