Rudolph Henry Koopmann, age 85 of Kasota, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Central Health Care Center in LeCenter.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Burial will be in Kasota Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Rudy was born on November 19, 1923 to Henry and Leona (Ziegler) Koopmann in West Salem, WI. He was raised in Wisconsin and on August 24, 1944 he was united in marriage to Viola Doerr in Sparta, WI. The couple moved to Kasota in 1945 and has resided there ever since. Rudy worked at various jobs before he became a carpenter, a trade that he practiced for 25 years. He then worked at Kato Engineering for almost ten years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bird watching, nature, building bird houses, hunting, fishing, and listening to old time music.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Viola Koopmann of Kasota; children, Gorden (Carol) Koopmann of Kasota, Kenneth (Lynn) Koopmann of West Salem, WI, Darlene (Joe) Mocol of Mankato, Donald Koopmann of Springfield, Larry Koopmann of St. Peter, and Sharon Koopmann of Kasota; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Myrtle Bruhn of West Salem, WI, Vernon (Donna) Koopmann of Graysville, TN, Earl (Rita) Koopmann of Sparta, WI, Orville (Caroline) Koopmann of Sparta, WI, and Raymond Koopmann of Piqua, OH; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
