Arvid Lager, age 68 of St. Peter passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Alan Bray officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the start of the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arvid was born on November 20, 1940 in Gibbon MN to Andrew and Mabel (Beattie) Lager. They moved to St. Peter when Arvid was 1 year old. He attended and graduated from St. Peter Schools. He was united in marriage to Carol Gerber on May 21, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Arvid was a farmer and dairy farmer, retiring when he was 55 due to health reasons. Through the years, he raised ornamental pheasants, swans and peacocks as well as other animals; and for over 40 years he raised white tail deer. He also belonged to several game bird organizations. Arvid enjoyed wildlife, fishing, jigsaw puzzles and crosswords.
Arvid is survived by his wife Carol, of St. Peter; son Scott (Denise) of St. Peter and their children Robert, Rachel and Isaac; daughter Gloria (Doug Sellner) of St. Peter and her children Allison and Elizabeth; great-granddaughter Isabell; brother Norman (Nancy) of St. Peter; brother-in-law Russell Johnson, and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vivian Johnson, and brother Donald Lager.
