James C Gibbs

James Charles Gibbs, age 50 of St. Peter, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Rivers Edge Hospital in St. Peter.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jim was born on May 25, 1958 to Robert and Betty (Bartlett) Gibbs in St. Peter. He attended school in St. Peter and was a 1976 graduate of St. Peter High School. He was united in marriage to Rita Johnson in 1980 at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland, and were later divorced in 2003. Jim attended South Central Technical College in Mankato from 1983-1984, studying Ag Mechanics. Most recently, Jim was employed by Nicollet County as a custodian. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed cars and taking family vacations.

He is survived by his children, Jenny Gibbs and fianc" Jon Halvorson of Rochester, Josie Gibbs and fianc" Matt Lust of St. Peter, and Brad Gibbs of St. Peter; mother Betty (Gene) Gibbs-Hager of St. Peter; siblings, Rick (Pam) Gibbs, Debbie (Gary) Hruby, and Barb (Mark) Ballman; former wife, Rita Gibbs of St. Peter; sister-in-law, Linda Gibbs; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and brothers, Steve, David, Jon and Joseph.
