Kenneth Chester Flowers, age 90, of rural Cleveland, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Benedictine Living Community, St. Peter.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Church of Christ, Cleveland, with Rev. Randy Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Savidge Lake Cemetery, rural Cleveland. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at St. Peter Funeral Home and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday.
Kenneth was born October 26, 1918 to Chester and Irma (Reinhardt) Flowers in Le Sueur County, MN. He was united in marriage to Loretta Elizabeth Hand on September 6, 1944. They were dairy farmers until retirement. Kenneth was a member of Farm Bureau and DHIA; and won numerous awards for his outstanding dairy herd. He took pride in his gardens and generously shared his fruits with family and friends. He enjoyed playing and watching football, basketball, and baseball, as well as traveling and playing cards.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Loretta; eight children, Kenneth "Larry" (Cindy) Flowers of Le Sueur, Janet (Dennis) Holicky of Cleveland, Mary Geving of Thousand Oaks, CA, Russell (Linda) Flowers of Mankato, Rita (Glen) Pauling of Owatonna, Donna (Dale) Herbst of Warsaw, James (Mary) Flowers of Wellington, CO, Gerald Flowers of Cleveland; seventeen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Maynard (Lucille) Flowers of Florida, Donald Flowers; sister, Marilyn (Alvin) Huber of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Vicki Flowers and Harriet Flowers; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Eva Flowers; two brothers, Bernard and Floyd; an infant sister; and a granddaughter, Laurie Flowers.
