Irene E. Dranttel, age 97 of St. Peter, passed away July 21, 2009 at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Little Lambs School or Grandview Good Samaritan Center.
Irene was born on September 6, 1911 to Herman and Louisa (Krueger) Fischer in Winthrop, MN. She moved to St. Peter at the age of eight where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Marvin "Bob" Dranttel on September 26, 1931 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Irene worked as a homemaker and assisted with work on the family watermelon farm. She later worked part-time at Skogmo's Department Store. She retired in 1980. She moved into Grandview Good Samaritan Center in 2005. Irene was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical Church, and was involved in the Berea Circle. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, shopping, traveling, and playing cards.
Irene is survived by her children, Joanne (Richard) Johnson, John "Butch" (Carol) Dranttel, and Nancy (Ron) Fierst all of St. Peter; her grandchildren, David (Jan) Johnson, Robert "Shorty" Johnson, Edward (Jackie) Johnson, Bruce (Barb) Johnson, Marie Dranttel, Jean (Lee) Gansen, and Deb Johnson all of St. Peter, Cathy (Richard) Anderson of Longville, and Mark (Stephanie) Fierst of Plymouth; nine great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin "Bob" in 1985, and two great-granddaughters, Lora, and Sara.
