Adeline E. Kretschmer, age 94, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Grandview Good Samaritan Center, St. Peter.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Peter, with Rev. Natwick officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 11:30 until the time of service at church on Friday. St. Peter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Adeline Elizabeth (nee Hein) Kretschmer was born January 4, 1915, in Traverse Township, and baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. She attended District 22 country school, St. Peter High School, and Mankato Teacher's College. Adeline married Henry "Bob" Kretschmer on August 23, 1940. The couple had 5 children, and Adeline worked primarily as a homemaker. Adeline and Henry joined Trinity Lutheran Church in 1940, and remained faithful, active members. Adeline taught Sunday School, Summer Bible School, quilted, served funerals, and often attended Bible Study at Trinity. She served as Bluebird, Cub Scouts, and Campfire leader; was skilled at cooking and preserving; enjoyed traveling and camping; and was a dedicated photograph and memorabilia archivist. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Adeline is beloved by family and friends. She moved with Henry to Grandview Good Samaritan Care Center in August 2006. Henry died in August 2007. Also preceding Adeline in death waw her daughter, Donna; mother, Margaret, father, Hugo; 3 brothers, Elmer, Raymond, and Robert, and 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Hein and Helen Kretchmer.
Surviving are her children Peg (Ken) Brinkman; Joyce (Dr. George) Merino; Tom (Sue) Kretschmer; Emily Kretschmer; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces and friends. Pallbearers are grandsons Paul Brinkman, Jason Farber, Larry Gunderson, Deric Merino, Lucas Merino, and Shane Weibel.
