Vincent L. Dumdei, age 79 of St. Peter passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery (Scotch Lake) in Cleveland. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the start of the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vincent was born on November 10, 1929 in Alma City, MN to Otto and Emma (Schroeder) Dumdei. He was united in marriage to Helen Schabert on June 11, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter. They resided in St. Peter and Vincent worked at Gustavus Adolphus College for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Knights of Columbus, and the St. Peter American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, antique collecting and gardening, hunting and fishing.
Vincent is survived by his wife Helen of St. Peter, son Paul of St. Peter, sister Esther Hinze of Reedsburg WI and sister-in-law Margaret (George) Weaver of Waterville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Walter, Alvin, Ernest, Martin Raymond and Albert; and two sisters: Sadie and Lillian.
