Jeanette Decko

Jeanette Elizabeth Decko, age 96 of St. Peter, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Norseland Lutheran Church in Norseland. Burial will be in Norseland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Jeanette was born on March 5, 1913 in Granby Township to Jacob and Catherine (Kienlen) Oster. She was united in marriage to Maynard Decko on June 18, 1935 at the Norseland Lutheran Church parsonage. She was a member of Norseland Lutheran Church where she volunteered with the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed embroidering, gardening, quilting, playing cards, cooking and baking.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Gene) Schultz of LeSueur, Willis Decko of Zimmerman, and Joann (Rick Jansky) Schaefer of LeSueur; daughter-in-law, Janis Decko of Mankato; grandchildren, Chris (Glen) Dewar, Kevin (Leslie) Decko, Tammy (Steve) Swanson, Billy (Molly) Schultz, and Ashley Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Tom and Jessica Dewar, Beth Sterling and Cassie, Erin and Connor Schultz, Riley and Joey Decko; and many other relatives and friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard in 1997; son, Wallace in August of 2009; three brothers and two sisters.
