Clarence Charles Veith, age 90 of St. Peter, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. David Naumann officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Clarence was born on June 7, 1919 in St. Peter, MN to Frederick and Florentine (Steffen) Veith. He grew up in St. Peter and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1937. He was united in marriage to Marion Hayer on June 28, 1941 at the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Clarence attended and graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He then moved back to St. Peter and took over Veith's Bakery, which was established in 1914 by his father. He operated the bakery until 1998. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, the St. Peter American Legion, the Last Man's Club and a past member of the St. Peter Drum and Bugle Corp. He enjoyed fishing, tying flies for fishing, sailing, gardening, and ballroom dancing. He was also a licensed HAM radio operator.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marion of St. Peter; children, Dee Dee Michels and husband, Jim of St. Peter, and Ron Veith and wife, Deb of St. Peter; grandchildren, Paul (Dawn) Michels, Jason (Lori) Michels, Benjamin Michels, Kara Veith, Ryan (Nicki) Veith, Madisen Veith, Emilie Veith, and Daniel Veith; many great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rita in 1960; son, Chuck in 2001; grandson, Matt Michels in 2003; and six brothers.
