Ralph H. Derner, age 79 of St. Peter passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009 at his home in rural St. Peter.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland with Fr. Phil Schotzko officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Monday at St. Peter Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Ralph Henry Derner was born on May 6, 1930 in Cleveland, MN to Anton and Mary (Salz) Derner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter and he is a 1947 graduate of Cleveland High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ruth Lovell in Cleveland in1953. Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He farmed for a living before retiring in 2002. During that time and until his illness, he worked at Klein Funeral Home and later St. Peter Funeral Home.

Ralph enjoyed family and friends, golf, traveling and woodworking. He was a member of the VFW; the American Legion where he was also a post commander; the Church of the Nativity as a board and choir member and in the Knights of Columbus; Shoreland Golf Board, and Cleveland Township Board.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia of Cleveland, Children: Renee (Jerry) Rollings, Karen (Ron) Prososki, Cindy (Jim) Bisek, Ruth (Bob) Anderson, Tim (Mary Fran), Kevin, Todd (Mary Pat), Brenda (Mark) Westling, Cheryl (John) Schmidt, Terri (Todd) Buehler, and Connie (Peter) Duryea; 31 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Marcella (Ed) Buttler-Bien and Joan (Burton) Johnson; brothers: Louis, Anthony (Marion), Richard (Darlene) and Willard (Margaret); sister-in-law Harriet Derner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ervin, Raymond and Vernon; and sisters: Odelia Hoehn and Bernice Weber.
