Dorothea L. Carlson, age 97, passed away on February 5, 2013 at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN.

Dorothea was born in Jeffers, MN on July 15, 1915 to Hans J. and Martha (Bauer) Skov. She was united in marriage to Harold Carlson on May 22, 1937. Together they raised 6 children. She was a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed many hobbies and crafts including, rose making, stitchery, and dice and cards. She was a wonderful mother and friend to all who knew her.

Dorothea is survived by her brother, Einar Skov; daughters, Darnelle Lacher, Dee (Doug) Engebretson, and Donata Carlson (Michael Balm); son, David Carlson; grandchildren, Linda Berger, Barbara (Cully) Johnson, Todd Lacher, and Troy (Amy) Lacher; great-grandchildren, Erich and Leandra Berger, Samuel, Tyson, and Callie Lacher, and Signe Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold of 62 years; daughter, Diane; son, Bob; son-in-law, Don Lacher; sister, Edna; and brothers, Ken and Don Skov.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the entire staff at the Benedictine Living Community for their respectful and loving care they gave to our Mother. The residents and staff have been an important part of her family. We also express our deepest gratitude to our families and friends including, the Denardo Family, Denne, Christi, Steve Sayer and Lucy.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Benedicitine Living Community of St. Peter on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the family and will be donated to Faith United Methodist Church in West St. Paul or the Benedicitine Living Community Activities Department.
