Alice P. Kuhle

Alice Kuhle, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away September 02, 2024. Born on November 4, 1929, to Kathryn and Henry Herzog, Alice lived a life defined by her deep spiritual faith and by saying the rosary daily. Alice graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1948 and followed her passion for caring for others by completing a nursing program at Children’s Hospital in 1949. Her early career saw her working in various doctors’ offices.

Her life took a beautiful turn when she joined the Dominic Club, where she met her future husband, Leo Kuhle (Wulfekuhle). Together, they shared a deep love for both each other and their profession. As culinary instructors at the Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute, Alice and Leo worked side by side where they not only taught but also catered numerous events, delighting clients with their culinary creations. Their shared passion for food and education left an indelible mark on their students and the community.

Beyond her professional achievements, Alice was known for her love of baking and entertaining. Alice had a special gift for humor, always finding a way to make people laugh and brighten their day. Her ability to turn any gathering into a memorable occasion was a testament to her vibrant spirit and generosity.

After retiring in 1991, Alice and Leo enjoyed new adventures in Fairhope, Alabama, and Leesburg, Florida, before returning to Minnesota in 2011 and to North Dakota . Following Leo’s death, Alice moved to Arizona with her son, where she rekindled her special bond with her sister Betty. In 2018, as her health declined, she returned to Minnesota to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In 2023, she moved to Sand Prairie assisted living, where she made many new friends.

Alice is survived by her children: Kris Ann Kuhle-Smith (Patrick), Kevin Kuhle, Karen Jean Rasmussen, Kelly Lee Norell (Burt), and Kurt Kuhle. Her legacy also includes her grandchildren: Traci Heimer with great-grandchildren Hunter, MaKynna, and Colton, Jessica Benson (Matt), Cory Rasmussen with great-grandchildren Timmy and Baylee, Cody Rasmussen, Zach Kuhle, Matthew Norell (Crystal) with great-grandchildren Mason and Owen, Nicole Wolters (Brad) with great-grandchildren Karissia and Braden, and Betsy Berger (Derek) with great-grandchildren Clara and Cohen; her brothers: Pete Herzog (Jeanie), and Mark Herzog (Diane); sister-in-law Sarah Herzog; other in-laws: Karey Mackey, Lovie and Bruce Brough, Joyce Swendsrud, Rose Wulfelkuhle; and many nieces and nephews.
