Longtime St. Peter resident Arlene A. Koble, 89, died January 2, 2025, at Benedictine Care Center, St. Peter, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 12 noon, Friday, January 17, 2025, following visitation from 11-12, at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, Msgr Douglas Grams officiating. Burial will follow directly at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlene and her twin sister, Anita, were born September 19, 1935 to Eleanor S. (Hanggi) and Leo R. Korb at a neighboring farm in Newville, ND. She attended grade school in a two-room school house in Calio, ND and graduated from Egeland High School in 1953. She attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing (ND), graduating in 1956. While subsequently working as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo, she married Adam F. Koble in 1958. The couple later moved to St. Paul, MN where she continued work at the University of Minnesota Hospital until 1964. In 1964 the family moved to Rochelle, IL where her husband began work with Cargill, Inc., and she began caring for their home and children full-time. In 1968 the family moved to St. Peter, MN where the sixth child was born. Besides caring for her family, she worked in home as a seamstress and developed her hobbies of gardening and refinishing furniture. Once empty-nesters, Arlene and her husband moved to Eden Prairie, MN in 1991. After the death of her husband, she was employed at the St. Hubert Catholic School in Chanhassen from 1996 -2000, working part-time with students learning to read and also assisting in the office. From 2000 -2012 she continued her love of sewing as a professional quilter with Quiltsmart, Inc. She returned to St. Peter in 2003 and has since enjoyed showering her family with hundreds of novel and beautiful, handmade quilts.
Arlene is survived by her children, Karen Koch, Rochester, Sharon (Greg) Dodson, Waseca, Ronald (Laura) Koble, Waseca, and Lynette (Nathan) Idso, St. Peter; daughter-in-law, Lisa Koble, N. Mankato; sixteen grandchildren, Matthew (Crystal) Koch, David Koch, Kristine (Mike) Bodine, Jennifer (Dave) Miller, Elizabeth (Michael) Schoenecker, Kathryn (Conor) Bennett, Tessa (Charlie) Hubert, Elizabeth Koble, Austin Koble, Christopher Koble, Adam C. Koble, Benjamin (Ann) Koble, Mackenzie (Geoff) Ramaker, Dylan Idso, Devin Idso, and Darrick (Sarah) Idso; step-grandchildren, Ayden Highet, and Bella Highet; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Eugene Korb, Fennimore, WI, Donalda Miller, Kenosha, WI, Robert (Janice) Korb, Great Falls, MT, and Harold (Anne) Korb, Chesterfield, MO; and numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adam (1995); sons, Steven (1997) and Richard (2016); brother, Duane Korb, and twin sister, Anita Leiseth; and numerous extended family.
