Carl E. “Butch” Rydeen, age 49, of St. Peter, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester after a courageous 9 month battle with lymphoma.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the St. Peter Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Private family graveside will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter.
Carl Edward, the son of Wesley and Harriet (Johnson) Rydeen, was born on June 5, 1970 in St. Peter. He graduated from St. Peter High School in 1989. Butch worked construction for many years and was previously employed by Bargen, Inc. of Mountain Lake and Geldner Underground of St. Peter. Most recently, he was employed at The Creative Company in North Mankato. Butch was a member of Pheasants Forever and enjoyed fishing and small game hunting.
He is survived by his parents, Wesley and Harriet Rydeen of St. Peter; siblings, Deb Karlsrud of Forest Lake and Tom (Julie) of Chaska; nieces and nephews, Nathan (Emily) Karlsrud, Ben Karlsrud, Lizzie (Spencer) Funke, Mitch Rydeen, Maddy Rydeen, Anna Rydeen, Natalie Rydeen, Courtney Rydeen, and Grace Rydeen; and his companion cat, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Elsie Rydeen and Oscar and Delpha Johnson; aunt and uncle, Clyde and Lois Lundeen; cousin, Bob Lundeen; and his beloved dog, Max.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Mayo Clinic Health System - Andreas Cancer Center or BENCHS, both of Mankato.
