Carol Jane Meyer Luegge, age 80, died peacefully of natural causes on Monday, January 11, 2021 at River’s Edge Hospital, St. Peter. Carol was born March 17, 1940 in St. Peter to Mildred and Herbert Meyer. She attended the country school on the Westwood Road for her early elementary years, graduating from St. Peter High School. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants, including Thompson’s Café in St. Peter, Gill’s Café in Mankato, Dell’s Café in North Mankato. Madsen’s Grocery, later Randall’s Food, as well as Cub Food in Mankato. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, visiting friends and family, and walking her many dogs.
She married Robert Luegge in 1993 and resided in North Mankato. They were divorced in 2013. She most recently resided at Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter until her death. As a family, we wish to thank the staff there for their wonderful care which they provided Carol.
She is survived by her brothers: Gary (Phyllis) Meyer of Cleveland, MN, and Lonny (Lee Ann) Meyer of St. Peter; sisters: Marlis Schollejegerdes (Doug) of Waseca, and Wendy (Scott) Forsyth of LaCrosse WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerry; and her sister-in-law Shirley Meyer.
Because of COVID, no service will be held at this time. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter. St. Peter Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests leaving messages on her obituary guestbook at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com or giving memorials to Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter or the donor’s choice.
