David Lechtenberg

June 30, 1931 — May 8, 2019

David Lechtenberg, age 87 of St. Peter, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato.

Memorial Mass will be 3:00 pm Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Catholic Church of St. Peter with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Granville IA on May 18. Condolences can be left at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.

David was born June, 30, 1931 in Granville IA to Hugo B. and Martha (Goebel) Lechtenberg. After high school he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings SD. His studies were interrupted when he enlisted in the US Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. On September 19, 1958, he was united in marriage to Betty Bertsch. David had various careers throughout his life. He farmed, was a pilot, crop duster, a draftsman, and a regional service rep for Case International. His joys in life were his family, flying, and motorcycling.

Left to remember David are his sons: Brad (LeeAnn) and Scott (Mary); and grandchildren: Jake, Charlie, Emma, Annie, Luke, AJ and Ben. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2011, parents and a sister, Geraldine.
