Donald J. Oles

Donald J. Oles, age 81 of St. Peter, passed on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Mayo Health System, Mankato.

Memorial service will be 11:00am Friday, March 13, 2020 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Peter with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery.

Donald James was born November 28, 1938 in St. Peter to Earl J. and Elizabeth (Walker) Oles. He graduated from St. Peter High School and enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving 30 years. Donald married Mildred (Rengstorf) De Groot in 1968. He was employed for 38 years with Green Giant (later Pillsbury) retiring in 1995 as a warehouse supervisor. He then was employed by Taytronics (later New Creations) from 1995 until 2018. Donald was a member of the St. Peter American Legion and enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, working night security at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds, and entertaining family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and kind and gentle soul.

Left to remember Donald are his wife, Mildred; daughter Carrie (Donald) Stierlen, step daughters: Barbara Hoehn, Beverly Wilking and Sharon (Michael) Mace; grandchildren: David, Kiersten, Chris, David, Brandy, Kevin, Shawn, Steven, Angie, Tarrah and Jasmine; great grandchildren: Josh, Tyler, Stephanie, Timothy, Jennifer, Ryan, Evan, Libby, Aiden, Ayden, Liam, Conner and Tyler; great-great grandchildren: Easton, Raiden, Natalie and Carter; brothers: Gerald and William; sister Mary Jane McGuire; lifelong friend James Pitmon; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers: Bruce and Kenny; and sister Clarice.
