Doreen Carol (Larson) Pehrson

Doreen Carol (Larson) Pehrson, age 70 of St. Peter, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Mayo – St. Mary’s in Rochester after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 2, 2019 at First Lutheran Church, St. Peter with visitation beginning at 9:30. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com

Doreen was born November 15, 1948 in New Ulm to Robert Sr. and Lorna (Johnson) Larson. She grew up on a farm in rural Lafayette where she spent many happy days; often visiting relatives and her grandparents, Richard and Cordelia (Brinkman) Johnson on the neighboring farm. She married David (Swede) Pehrson on July 4, 1975. The 4^th of July has been a special and favorite family holiday ever since.

Doreen started her lifelong career at the Nicollet County Government Center in 1974. She became the first female assessor of Nicollet County in 1989 and retired in 2016. She said many times that she had a great work family and was very proud of them. In 1982, they moved to their home in rural Ottawa/St. Peter with their children. Together, through the years they built a home that their children and grandchildren would always want to come home to; and they did. Doreen loved to cook and very early on mastered her families and friends recipes. She enjoyed being in her garden and growing everything from flowers to tomatoes.

Left to remember Doreen are her husband, David; Children: April Pehrson, Jason Adams, and Denise Pehrson; grandchildren: Daisy and David Pehrson; mother, Lorna Larson; brothers: Ronald (Robin) Larson and Robert Jr. (Nancy) Larson; and many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sr.
