Dorothy Besemer Schultz, age 98, died May 2, 2019 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN.
She was born on a farm near New Ulm, MN to Anton and Rosa (Klossner) Besemer. She graduated from New Ulm High School and Iowa State in 1942 with a degree in Home Economics. She worked as the Nobles County Home Extension Agent in Worthington, MN, and with the Rehabilitation Institute in Des Moines, IA. Later she represented the Institute of American Bakers in an 8 state region until 1958. She married St. Peter farmer, Albert L Schultz and raised a daughter, Betsy. She was a county fair judge and an aide in the St. Peter schools. She moved to St Peter after her husband’s death in 1985, Heritage Meadows in 2016 and Benedictine in 2017.
She is survived by her daughter Betsy Awni (special friend Steve Krupa), her stepdaughter, Marlene Lind, nieces Connie Ibberson, Carol (John) Bates, nephew Dayle Besemer, stepson Duane Schultz and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Schultz, sister Vi (Ed) Wagner, and brother Melvin (Iola) Besemer, and also David Besemer, Dian Wagner, Lorna (Gordon) Quiram, David Lind.
Dorothy was an avid gardener, homemaker, and belonged to several bridge clubs, St. Peter Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Treaty Center Quilter’s club. She enjoyed car trips, international trips and even camping trips in her early 90s.
Memorial service will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 am, with visitation at 9:30 am at the St. Peter Lutheran Church.
