Douglas "Doug" John Gerke

Douglas “Doug” John Gerke, age 55 of Mankato passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Peter. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church as well. The church requires masks to be worn by all attendees. 

On August 11, 2007, Doug exchanged marriage vows with the love of his life, Leslie. The two of them were blessed with one son, Andrew. In addition, Doug adored his older son, Tyler, and step-daughter, Jessica.

Doug loved spending time with his family. He and Leslie rarely missed any of Andrew’s football, basketball and baseball games. Doug also loved all Minnesota sports -- pro, semi-pro and college alike. As often as possible, Doug and his family attended Moondog baseball games and MSU Maverick hockey games. When Doug wasn’t watching sports, he enjoyed listening to and attending Iron Maiden concerts. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his wife of 15 years, Leslie Gerke; children, Tyler, and Andrew Gerke; step-daughter, Jessica Poyzer; siblings, Steve (Julie) Gerke, and Barb Weber; nieces and nephews, John (Lynne) Gerke, Tara (Marcus) Tomaino, Ashley (Drew) Tolzman, Mackenzie Weber (fiancé Duston Schulte), and Molly (Scot) Curran. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gerke and Mary Jean Richter, and brother-in-law, Rick Weber.
