Eileen Esther Orr

Eileen Esther Schabert (Grabow, Orr), age 85 of St. Peter, MN and formerly State College, PA passed away October 24, 2024 in St. Peter. 

Eileen (daughter of the St. Peter bike man), was born in St Peter, MN June 10, 1939 to Francis Claire and Edith Augusta (Hultgren) Schabert. She was married to Eugene Grabow of Kasota from 1958 to 1983. Later, she was married to Thomas E. Orr of Lewistown, PA from June 1991 to June 1996.

Eileen graduated in 1957 from St. Peter High School and attended Mankato State University for two years, majoring in Business Education and Home Economics. She was a secretary employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Security Mutual Life Insurance Company in Lincoln, Nebraska; The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, PA in the College of Agriculture from 1974-1979. In 1983, she worked in the same university in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics as an undergraduate records secretary. She helped students register for the large enrollment classes of Engineering Science and Mechanics. Eileen retired from Penn State and moved back to St. Peter in 2012. 

She enjoyed art history, especially visiting the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. where there were showings of special exhibits of famous artists. She had been currently writing family history. She was intellectually curious and had a thirst for knowledge. In addition, Eileen also enjoyed reading, travelling and dancing.

Eileen is survived by two children, Paul Grabow (Lorelei Kornell) of Fair Oaks, CA and Kari Bachinski (Matt Bachinski) of Florence, KY; five grandchildren, Genevieve Bachinski, Cody Bachinski (Shelby Perkins), Colton Bachinski, Connor Bachinski, and Alex Bachinski; and one great-grandchild, Cylas Bachinski. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Schabert and Edith Schabert; son, Lyndon Grabow; and granddaughter, Isabella Bachinski.

Visitation will take place from 11am-1pm, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the St. Peter Funeral Home, 906 N. Washington Avenue, St. Peter, MN 56082. Prayer service will begin at 1pm at the funeral home.
