Helen Esther Dumdei, age 85, of St. Peter passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Church of Saint Peter, with visitation one hour prior at the church as well. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery (Scotch Lake), rural Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. Saint Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen was born on October 1, 1934 to Anthony and Esther Schabert. She graduated from Saint Peter High School in 1952. On June 11, 1956 she married her husband, Vincent Dumdei at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Peter. Helen worked as a Bank Teller for a combined 7 years at First National Bank of St. Peter and the Elysian State Bank. She co-owned The Corner Bar with her husband in Elysian for 3 years. The Dumdeis moved back to St. Peter where they both worked at Gustavus Adolphus College; she worked in the Food Service Department for 37 years.
Helen is survived by her son, Paul (Christa) Dumdei, of St. Peter and her sister, Margaret Weaver, of Waterville, MN; step-grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Genelin, Sami (Mark) Christian, Molly (Steven) Schloesser, Jared Schloesser, as well as 4 step-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Esther Schabert; husband, Vince Dumdei and brother-in-law, George Weaver.
