James "Jim" C. Wendroth

James “Jim” C. Wendroth, age 84, of St. Peter, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at his home.

Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, St. Peter. Visitation will be one hour before service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

James was born June 14, 1940, to Christ and Lillian Marie (Kelm) Wendroth at home in Pine County, Minnesota.

He attended 1st - 5th grade in Eden Valley, 5th -8th at country school and then finished his education, graduating from Eden Valley High School in 1958. 

Jim was united in marriage to Karen M. Sillman on November 22, 1974, in Brookings, SD. 

Jim worked as a carpenter for the railroad, operated Pantry, Fruit, and Grocery from 1959-75. He served as a city council member for the City of St Peter and was an EMT for 17 years. 

He was employed as a contractor from 1975 to the present, Building many new homes in the St Peter area. He was a man that never stopped working and always wanted to be a part of a new project.

Jim was an active part of his wife's business, Karen’s Flowers for over 50 years.

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, working, but especially spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; eight children, Tammi (Brian) Bustad of Rose Creek, MN, Terri Wendroth of Liberty, NC, James S. (Anne) Wendroth of St. Peter, Daniel (Shelly) Wendroth of Austin, Patsi Belden of Austin, Kari (Matt) Leonard of St. Peter, Jason (Molly) Wendroth of St. Peter, and Jamie Wendroth of St. Peter; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Charles Wendroth of Litchfield, June Fisher of Hutchinson, LuVern (Leon) Bredeck of Delano, and Chris Wendroth of Eden Valley; four sisters-in-law, Millie Wendroth, Doreen Headlee, Sherri (Fred) Full, and Laurie Bonsack; two brothers-in-law, Richard McLain & Mike Tollefson; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Penni; sister, Sylvia (Denzil) Hickman; brother, Arthur Wendroth; in-laws; Dennis Sillman, Diana (Mike) Sanford/Kisor, Dale Sillman, Marsha Tollefson, Patty McLain and Tom Headlee.
