Lawrence “Larry” David Jansen, age 64, of St. Peter, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, Minnesota.
Larry was born on March 19, 1959, in Red Oak, Iowa to David Jansen and Doris Halverson. Larry began his school years in Denton, Texas before the family moved to St. Peter in 1973. Larry enjoyed school and excelled in academics, athletics, music, and extra-curricular activities. He cherished many happy memories which he shared with friends during these years.
Larry attended St. Olaf College and graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a philosophy and humanities degree. Through the years, Larry worked a variety of jobs, including Banker Systems of St. Cloud. He returned to St. Peter later in life to be near family and friends.
Larry had a wide variety of interests. He enjoyed listening to music, playing the guitar, reading, sports, and having philosophical discussions. He was known for his great sense of humor and loved telling jokes.
Larry is survived by his siblings, twin brother, Loren (Laura) of St. Peter, Sharon (Travis) Smith of St. Peter, and Dr. L. Dean (Carol Lyn) of Warsaw, Indiana; and extended family.
Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, mother, and half-brother, Lowell.
The family would like to thank the Harry Meyering Center of Mankato and the Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter for their care of Larry through the years.
A private family service will be held at a later date with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Clara City, Minnesota. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
