Mabel Louise Kolander was born on June 27, 1920 to Henry and Anna Sievert. She was the oldest daughter of 10 children.
She was confirmed with her two older brothers at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN.
She married Rudolph Kolander on December 21, 1938. They lived on the Connard Brill farm until they bought their farm north of Lakefield.
She enjoyed living on the farm and having a large garden. She liked canning, baking and sewing. She was known for her country apple pie. She also made mints for wedding and special occasions.
She continued living on the farm after her husband died in 1998. In February of 2011, she became a resident of Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN. She enjoyed playing double dice and bingo there until her health failed.
She passed away on December 21, 2019 at the age of 99 ½.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kolander- Sampson (Rolin); her daughter in law, Jaidy Kolander; 5 grandchildren, Rob Sampson, Lori Sampson, Jesse Kolander (Micara), Nathan Kolander (Courtney) and Padaric Kolander; 7 great grandchildren, Haley Sampson, Logan Sampson, Ella Sampson, Trayton Kolander, Bryce Kolander, Xyla Kolander, and Isabella Kolander; two sisters, Irene Crisman of White Bear Lake, MN and Rosella Pohlman (Leo) of Lakefield, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; son, Larry Kolander; parents; siblings, Fred Sievert (Ruby), John Sievert (Jean), Raymond Sievert, Helen Pohlman (Norman), Ella Baumgard (Leo), Melvin Sievert (Janice), and Evelyn Sievert.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Lakefield, MN on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00am. Visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. St Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
