Marjorie Ann Boys

April 5, 1939 — January 11, 2025

St. Peter, MN

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Marjorie Ann (Dranttel) Boys, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed peacefully at the age of 85 on January 11, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a large family legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born on April 5, 1939, in St. Peter, MN, Marjorie Ann was the oldest of three daughters born to Rhoda Wilson and Donald Dranttel. She grew up in St. Peter, MN, and also lived with her aunt Eva and uncle Dan Butterfield in Kasota, MN, where she held her first job assisting them at their gas station. Marge loved her time with Aunt Eva and Uncle Dan.

As a young mother, Marge moved to the Twin Cities to raise her children and held a variety of jobs. She was a teacher's aide, a waitress, sold real estate, sold cars, and did carpet cleaning until she landed her longest job with Hennepin County Pre-admissions Screening, where she assisted people with intake for a variety of programs. Marge was also an Avon lady for many years and made the President's Club. To her last days, she always reminded her girls to put on their lipstick! Throughout the years, she was a very hard worker and loved her grandchildren dearly.

She was over the moon to reunite with her first high school sweetheart Bill in 1996, married in 1997, and was so happy to retire early to begin their life of leisure together. They loved to travel, play cards with friends, and engage in hobbies like ceramics.

Family was the cornerstone of her life. She was proud of all of her six children: son Bob (Robert) Carlson, daughter Candace Johnson, sons Jeffrey Carlson and Ronald Carlson, daughters Cara Carlson and Dana Sanderson, and a proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren (Jolene, Drew, Chris, Taylor, Dylan, Laura, William, Jeremy, Julia, Anna, Jordan, Madison, Emily, Dakota, Dalton, Wyatt, Rowan, Shane, Veronica) and 11 great-grandchildren (Emily, Syrus, Max, Lexi, Oliver, Zelda, CeCilia, Frankie, Vivian, Violet, Rainn).

She is survived by her loving husband Bill (William) Boys, her six children (above), her daughter-in-law Mary Carlson, her sons-in-law Kent Johnson, Adam Sanderson, and Jeffrey Staggs, her stepchildren Bob (William Jr.) and his wife Kelly Boys, Brad (Kenneth) Boys, Barbara Boys, her sister Judith Groth, and in-laws Beverly Johnson, Kenneth Happ, and Kathleen Niederstadt and husband Chet, all who will treasure her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald Dranttel and Rhoda Wilson, her sister Donna Poore, and sister-in-law Margaret Happ.

A celebration of Marjorie Ann Boys’s life will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 10:30am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, St. Peter. Visitation will begin at 9:00am.

Though she is no longer with us, her love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Marjorie. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
