Phillip "Doug" Engebretson

June 8, 1942 — October 6, 2020

Phillip “Doug” Engebretson, age 78 of St. Peter, passed away at home from aggressive cancer on October 6, 2020.

Phillip Douglas was born June 8, 1942 in Slayton, MN to Glenn and Eleanor (Viste) Engebretson. He graduated from Slayton High School and continued his education at Dunwoody College of Technology, graduating with a degree in architectural drafting and estimating. Doug then served in the US Navy from 1964-1966. He was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Carlson in West St. Paul in 1965.

Doug worked at Vetter Stone, retiring as VP of Technical Services. In retirement he stayed busy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of South Central MN and the St. Peter Arts Center; and was active with his men’s book club. Doug enjoyed woodworking, reading, being “Mr. Fix-it” for neighbors and friends, attending his grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his family.

Left to remember Doug are his wife, Dee; daughters: Linda (Denne) Wesolowski and Barbara (Cully) Johnson; grandchildren: Erich, Leandra, and Signe; siblings: Judy (Harry) Follmuth, Mary (Keven) Newton, David (Marlys) Engebretson, and Janet (Cupe) Cuperus; many other relatives and friends; and his favorite granddog, Dewey. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Habitat for Humanity of Southern Minnesota or the Arts Center of St. Peter.
